Ciara Young has been short-listed as ‘rising star of the year’ for the Scottish Legal Awards 2022

Ciara Young

The Scottish Legal Awards were established in 2003 with the purpose of recognising outstanding achievements in the Scottish legal profession. The impartial competition is evaluated by a team of industry experts chosen from across the sector. The goal of the competition is to recognise the finest achievements in the legal industry across Scotland and we are delighted to announce our very own Ciara Young has been shortlisted for an award at the September 2022 event.

A bit about Ciara Young

Ciara qualified as a solicitor in June 2021. Since starting at the firm, she has worked her way through legal assistant, traineeship and qualification. Over the years with Clarity Simplicity, Ciara has made huge strides within the firm and the profession. Ciara’s client base consists of a substantial and varied number of cases across all practice areas. While Ciara’s passion is absolutely litigation, so much so that her next goal is to progress on the path to solicitor advocate, she embraces all areas in the interests of her own development and the firm. Ciara’s opinion and knowledge is valued by all at the firm so much so that she recently delivered training on ‘knowing your worth’ in an effort to help promote the mental wellbeing of all staff across the firm.

What makes Ciara our Rising Star

In short, Ciara is not one to shy away from a challenge. Ciara relishes the idea of taking on complex and difficult cases. While there are many examples of this throughout her short career so far, one of the most contentious and litigious was that of a case that was raised by her clients in 2021.

Having only qualified a few months’ previous, Ciara was faced with conducting her very first highly contentious and legally technical Proof. It involved complex legal arguments to be made. Ciara was put through her paces by the Sheriff on the bench however, despite pro-longed submission and an active debate with the Sheriff as to the points she was making, Ciara was successful in obtaining the Order sought, much to her client’s delight and satisfaction.

Ciara when she is not at her desk

Ciara has proactively involved herself in ways to help others in the wider community including the Dixon Community Day Care Centre who provide vital support for careers and cared for in Glasgow. In 2018, Ciara achieved her third Dan black belt in karate and has continued to train at karate classes in Glasgow.

For the love of law

When asked why she was so passionate about her work Ciara responded “Every day is different. There is no limit to the opportunities you are presented with and every day comes with a new lesson and another opportunity to assist someone. I have the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people, all with various legal issues, and no two are ever the same. I am extremely fortunate to have a career in doing something that I love.”

The winner of the “Rising Star of the Year” award will be revealed at the annual black-tie awards ceremony which takes place on Thursday 22 September 2022 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on Cambridge Street and everyone at Clarity Simplicity would like to wish Ciara the best of luck on the big night.
