TUPE – Mergers & Restructuring

One of the products of the recession and challenging economic climate is an increase in the number of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and restructuring taking place in certain industries.

Such deals can have a significant impact on employees. In the UK, the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (commonly known as the TUPE Regulations) protects the employment terms and conditions of staff if they have to move company. It’s important that both businesses (particularly HR teams) and employees get the employment law advice they need.
